Scratch Board

This was a scratchboard I carved away using a little scraper tool. I was copying a picture I had found but I DID NOT TRACE IT. I just looked at it while i drew and I'm pleased the way it came out, I put in a lot of time

Painted Hat

This project was unique because I used paint on not canvas. I painted on a hat which was more difficult that I originally expected but I'm very happy the way it came out. It is a sunset using mostly warm colors and
a silhouette of a palm tree. Very Hippy Tree inspired, check out their clothing.

Printing Collage

This is a collage I made using the block print from my previous posting. I got a large piece of white paper and first, splattered black paint all around to create a background. Then, i printed my bear 6 times with different color star balloons and made them going in a circle. The original piece was supposed to have a red balloon, thats why a red balloon is floating by itself in the middle of all the other ones. No real rhyme or reason to the art, just an abstract kind of art you can take any way you want.

Block Print

This is an image created using an linolium block print. I first drew the picture of the bear and transfered it to a linoleum square where then, I carved out the image using a carving tool. I inked the block up and printed it onto a piece of paper using a printing press thing. I was trying to combine one of my favorite pieces of art, The Banksy Girl, with the California Flag because California is the best place ever. Yup. Here it is.

Book Pages

Here are four pieces of art I made using actual book pages. What I did was that I took an actual page of a book, and drew something that related to a select few words on the page which I chose not to color or paint over.
1- This page was put onto a bigger piece of paper, and created a larger image. On the page were the words, "santa" "gifts" "stockings" etc. That is why i made it christmas themed by drawing a Christmas tree, stalkings, fire place and just a generic look of a Christmas living room. All colored pencil.

2- On this page the words " I never do smoke" are in the ash of the cigerette which makes it an ironic statement. The cigerette is supposed to contrast with the brick wall in the background. The brick wall is supposed to bring some texture to this piece and the smoke is my attempt to create an urabn Los Angeles feel. Painted and colored pencil.

3- On this page, I wasnt concerned as much with what the words actually said but rather where they were placed. I tried to make a sunset look without the sun in an actual setting position. I left the words under the rays open to act as clouds, but it looked better in my head. It is all painted.

4- On this page, I tried to keep it simple. Very dark colors, nothing too dominant in the picture becuase I wanted some of the attention to be on the Whale's Tail in the foreground. Its splashing next to a boat and provides motion in an apparently still night shot. I was pleased with the way the tail of the whale came out.

2 Point Perspective

This is a painting I did trying to keep a 2 point perspective in mind. I drew the best Mexican restaurant ever on Rosecrans, the original El Tarasco. I tried to paint the El Tarasco building with only warm colors, unlike the actual. I chose to paint everything else in Black and White because I wanted to create a contrast between the building and the background really creating a dominance of the restaurant. Let me know what you think

Perspective Drawing

This picture is of a slightly modified version of my room. It is drawn using pencil. I incorporated 1 point perspective and drew the image as if a movie had just ended being played by the projector.
